Kenya Visa (eTA) Guide for Indian Travellers

Kenya is the heart of African safaris, home to the Masai Mara and the Big Five. As of January 2024, Kenya has officially become a "Visa-Free" country. However, this does not mean you can just fly in. All visitors must now obtain a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before boarding. Skyway Tours & Travels handles this entire digital process for you, ensuring your entry is approved without technical errors.

💉 Crucial Health Advisory: Yellow Fever

For Return to India: If you visit Kenya, the Indian Government MANDATES a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate to re-enter India. Without it, you face 6 days of mandatory quarantine at the airport upon return.
Recommendation: Get vaccinated at least 10 days before your trip.

Visa (eTA) Types for Indian Nationals

1. Single Entry eTA (Standard Tourist)

The standard authorisation for holidays and family visits.

  • Validity: Valid for travel within 90 days of issuance.
  • Stay Duration: Typically allows a stay of up to 90 days.
  • Processing Time: 3 Working Days (72 Hours).
  • Children: ALL travellers, including infants and children, require their own individual eTA.

2. East Africa Tourist Visa (The "Combo" Visa)

If you plan to visit Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda in one trip, this is the best value.

  • Cost: Higher than a single eTA but cheaper than 3 separate visas.
  • Benefit: Multiple entry between these three countries only.
  • Condition: You must apply through the country you enter first.

Essential Documents Required (eTA)

The eTA system is fully digital. We will require clear scans/photos of:

  • Passport: Bio-page valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival.
  • Selfie/Photo: A recent passport-style photo (White background).
  • Flight Itinerary: Confirmed arrival and departure tickets.
  • Accommodation: Hotel booking vouchers or Safari itinerary.
  • Yellow Fever Card: Copy of the vaccination certificate (Often requested by the system).
  • For Family Visits: Invitation letter and Host's ID/Passport.

Step-by-Step Application Process

We simplify the complex government portal for you:

  1. Send Documents: WhatsApp or Email your documents to Skyway Tours.
  2. Verification: We check your data against your passport MRZ code to prevent rejection.
  3. Payment: We pay the USD government fees using our international cards.
  4. Approval: We email you the approved eTA PDF. You must print this and show it at the check-in counter and immigration.

✅ Why Choose Skyway Tours?

The "Visa-Free" system can be misleading; the eTA is strict.

  1. Group Applications: We can process families as a single group to ensure everyone gets approved together.
  2. Photo Resizing: The portal rejects photos that don't meet specific pixel dimensions. We fix this for you.
  3. Payment Safety: Avoid issues with Indian credit cards getting declined on the African government portal.

Common Questions

Do children need an eTA?

Yes. Unlike the old visa system where children under 16 were exempt, the new eTA system requires every single passenger (even babies) to have an approved eTA and pay the fee.

Is Polio Vaccination required?

For travellers flying directly from India to Kenya, Polio vaccination is no longer mandatory. However, it is recommended to stay updated. (Yellow Fever remains the critical mandatory one).

Can I get an eTA on arrival?

No. The eTA must be approved before you board your flight. Airlines will deny boarding if you do not have the eTA PDF in hand.
