What is Umrah?
Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the Hajj. It is often referred to as the "minor pilgrimage."
In Arabic, Umrah means "to visit a populated place." In the Sharia, it means performing Tawaf (circling the Kaaba) and Sa'i (walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah) while in a state of Ihram.
Spiritual Significance
Performing Umrah is a highly recommended Sunnah in Islam. It serves as a spiritual cleansing for the soul. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The performance of Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one)." It is a journey of devotion, repentance, and a chance to renew one's connection with Allah.
